On my old PC I have the eTrust antivirus, but I don't think it's up-to-date. My Internet explorer 6 won't let me download updates or a new version online. Can I remotely do this on my PC? I need some active antivirus until I get a newer system. Is it possible?

This antivirus isn't actively developed anymore. I strongly recommend you to download another one that is developed and updated now. Additionally, you need to upgrade Internet Explorer to the latest version released for your Windows, because IE6 is vulnerable to a lot of threats and even the most powerful antivirus can't protect you. Visit Internet Explorer's page, download and install the latest version then browse the database of Software Informer to look for an antivirus. I recommend using Avast or AVG.
